Introduction
Today we are going to look at a game that Simone has played from start to finish. She loves Resident Evil games and played the other remakes, two and three as well. What Did Simone think of this game? I watched along as she played, is this game very different compared to the original which I played a very long time ago. It is time to find out!
What did Simone think of Resident Evil 4 Remake before playing?
Since my wife enjoyed the previous Resident Evil games that had gotten a remake. We bought this game for the PlayStation 5. We both had seen some trailers and the graphics looked insane. I also told her I enjoyed the classic version. Since she is always in to murder some zombies, she wanted to get additional information from the PlayStation page.
The PlayStation store page
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/resident-evil-4-remake/
The page not only introduced the characters that will be important in the game, it lets you know that the dialogue is improved. All cutscenes have been improved, it promises to be fun for new and old players. But not too young, or you might scare your kids. There are countless enemies to take down in this game, I expect different behavior compared to the original. The enemy A.I. has been improved greatly over the years. Both Simone and I were excited to see what this game had in store for us.
Rating
I rated Resident Evil 4 Remake with a 9.2 before playing.
The classic Resident Evil 4 was one of the best games in the series, I expected that this remake would be the best remake of the series, and so did my wife.
Story
The story takes place six years after the events of Resident Evil 2. Leon is now an agent since the rookie cop inside Leon died that day. So a new Leon emerged, agent Leon who joined missions and worked under the president. The carefree Leon was gone ever since the accident with zombies. Now Agent Leon has another mission in which Leon will need to face new horrors. But this Leon is not as easily spooked as Resident Evil 2 Leon. Who knows what dangers await Leon this time?

I rate the story of Resident Evil Remake 4 with an 8.7
While the intro is very convoluted, and I have no idea what Leon is trying to say. The rest of the story is superb, Ashley this time is much better and actually grows as the story progresses. Her character, not literally.
Gameplay
This game has a good camera function, which is important when having to react quickly. Most of the game is a small world you can explore, but there are many points of no return. Thus, it is best to get all loot before moving on. Each area has treasure to collect which can be sold for Pesetas. Enemies, the zombie horde, also drop pesetas or ammo. Ammo is very scarce in this game, this is not the kind of game where you run in blasting, well, you can, if you have enough ammo. This game also introduces parries and the ability to use your knife to break free from a gripping attack.
The enemies in this game are pretty aggressive. I remembered this was not the case in the original. This time they are smarter and will swarm you if you let them. Luckily, movement is not as bad as in the classic version. It used to take time to turn Leon around. This time around it is much smoother sailing, including the boat controls.
There are many weapons to find scattered around, but if you need upgrades or different weapons, there is a merchant who pops up now and then. If you are thinking, how do I get so many pesetas? It is quite easy, all you need to do is find the hidden treasures that are scattered around, including gems that you can pop into some of the treasure. I advise investing in a rocket launcher for the final boss.
A big part of the game is about saving Ashley, once you do, it is up to you to protect her. The zombies will try to kidnap her, or you might shoot her as she loves to get in the way. There are plenty of places that you will need her to reach. She will also help with pointing out some hints for difficult puzzles. All in all, this game is pretty balanced with difficult bosses that might snack you up if you are not fast enough.

I rated the gameplay of Resident Evil 4 Remake with a 9.5
The gameplay mechanics are fairly balanced, the difficulty does seem to be a bit high compared to the classic version due to the intelligence of the enemies.
Sound and Graphics
Graphics
The graphics of Resident Evil 4 Remake are amazing. One funny thing that my wife and I learned by doing some research is that Leon turns bald every time he looks down a scope. Now, I cannot unsee a bald Leon. The way that the game renders is quite good, you don’t notice the low-poly background at all. The scale seems to be a bit off, but it is all fixed with some illusional magic.
Sound
The soundtracks are perfect to create a creepy atmosphere. fast-paced music also starts to play when zombies are chasing you. There are also enemies who rely on sound to find you. They do have good senses and can probably find you if you are silent as well.

I rated the sound and graphics of Resident Evil 4 remake with an 8.8
Ashley seems to be less whiney compared to the classic game, but it might just be my imagination.
What did Simone think after playing Resident Evil 4?
I told her to buy a rocket launcher for the final boss, it would die in one hit. She laughed at me and said I was trolling her. She played the game and enjoyed it a lot, but she did get annoyed by Ashley as she kept getting in the way and being kidnapped. It was also ridiculous how many times Leon loses her. The hardest boss fight was Krauser as he is immensely fast in this remake. As for that rocket launcher, she used it on the final boss, it died in one hit.

- The movement mechanics are smoother in this version
- The graphics of this remake are insanely good
- The soundtracks and sound effects are very good in this game
- There are many enemies and zombies to slaughter
- There are many different weapons to try out
- A great story about how Leon became a better Leon because of what happened to Leon
- Leon goes bald when he looks down a scope
Cons
- Ashley keeps getting kidnapped
I realized this is how I saw the game in my mind when I played it when I was young. Some of the moments I realized I was scared shitless when I was a kid. Now that I see it as an adult I am like, why did this even scare me in the first place? All in all, a remarkable remake of Resident Evil 4! A must play with amazing graphics on the PlayStation 5.

Great game! I’ve played the base game only, so thanks for reviewing both game and DLC!
nice, i’m going to start playing it soon
A must have!
I thought it was a solid remake but it’s one of those situations where it doesn’t completely replace the original and they’re both good in their own right.
I still like the original better. It had better ballistics ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Crowbcat goes into much detail about so many things that were lost in the remake and changes made to appease the “modern audiences”
Good review!
I played the original Back then on the Wii. I loved managing my inventory.
Ashley keeps getting kidnapped XD
Couldn’t get the points for the Screenshot challenge, even though I wrote the correct name 🙁
What a perfect remake! Had tons of fun playing it, and I might replay it soon and buy Seperate Ways to play even more. I also liked how Ashley is more mature and less whiney in this remake than in the classic, she used to piss me off when she kept shouting “LEON!!! LEON!!! LEON!!!” whenever she got kidnapped or was stuck on the wall lol. Thanks for the review!
