Introduction

Today we will be looking at a looter shooter that has been out for quite a while, Borderlands 2! This is a game that I wanted to review for quite some time, but somehow this was a review that always got delayed! Do not fret as Borderlands 3 will also be reviewed in the future. In Borderlands 2 you will run around Pandora hunting for a vault while Handsome Jack tries to kill you! Join up with the vault hunters of Borderlands 1 and join the resistance!

What did I think before playing Borderlands 2?

Borderlands 2 is a game that my wife and I played a lot in the previous years. Grab your gun and shoot up some bandits, there are a lot of different guns that you can use to shoot up bandits, but you also will encounter new enemies.  Where did the threshers come from? Maybe you should play Borderlands the pre sequel to find that out! For more information, we went to the Steam page!

The Steam Page

https://store.steampowered.com/app/49520/Borderlands_2/
The Steam page shows a lot of information along with many reviews, since Borderlands 2 is a very popular game! The best thing is, off course, more guns and loot! The new Vault hunters are also very fun to try out but off course to access them all, you will need the season passes. Luckily, since the game has come out a long time, there are quite some sales!

Rating

I rate Borderlands 2 with an 8.3 before playing.
Time to shoot and loot some bandits, do not forget about the bullymongs or should we call them bonerfarts?

Story

The story of Borderlands 2 takes place sometime after Borderlands 1, in the meantime Handsome Jack has taken over a large portion of Pandora while looking for a vault. This, off course, attracts new vault hunters. This is where your story begins! As you arrive at the planet to take down Handsome Jack, but it was a trap, and you get blown up. Luckily, you survive, saved by Claptrap. It is now your task to regain your strength, team up with other vault hunters and take down Handsome Jack and find the vault!

Rating

I rate the story of Borderlands 2 with an 8.9
The story of Borderlands 2 is quite awesome, it picks up right after Borderlands 1 and manages to build upon it with unexpected plot twists!

Gameplay

One of the most important parts is off course the leveling in Borderlands 2. To level up, you first need a Vault Hunter that you want to play as. Each Vault Hunter has three different skill trees, you will need to choose from. Luckily, if you make mistakes, you can always reset in the game. This game can also be played as in split screen co-op or online co-op!

There are a lot of quests that you can complete to get stronger, however clearing quests can also overlevel your character quite some bit. Luckily, the ultimate vault hunter mode will scale all the enemies up  to your level! There are also challenges to clear which will give you badass rank that will give you permanent buffs for each character!

All Vault hunters have different action skills that they can activate to level the playing field, for example, the gunzerker can use a skill to wield double the amount of guns! Do you dare to wield two rocket launchers? Or maybe you would like to summon a deadly robot that fights by your side?  The options are endless in Borderlands 2, well not endless, but there are a lot of options to choose from!

Rating

I rate the gameplay of Borderlands 2 with a 9.1
Shoot them all to pieces or, maybe, you want to burn them to ashes!

Sound and Graphics

Graphics

It has almost been ten years since writing this that Borderlands 2 came out! Wow, I just made myself feel very old, however let us get back on track! The graphics of Borderlands 2 are still amazing, with a quite unique style that outlines enemies and guns very well. There are a lot of different biomes that you will visit when you will try to take down Handsome Jack!

Sound

It is Borderlands 2, the music is just epic! The voice acting of Tiny Tina is awesome, I mean, who does not like a crazy child that loves to blow stuff up! Boom goes the psycho! I also do not get bored yet of sound effects, pew pew pew pew pew, I just shot you, you mean bandit, and now you are dead! Give me your gun!

Rating

I rate the sound and graphics of Borderlands 2 with a 9.2
Which gun do you think has the best sound effect? I like rocket launchers, but I always blow myself up!

What did I think after playing Borderlands 2?

My wife and I always have a great time when we are blowing up bandits and other stuff! Feel my grenades you nasty robots, do not worry it has a corrosion element! In this game you can also use slag to increase your damage input, there are also relics that will help you with increasing damage or maybe even increase your health! The DLC of Borderlands 2 is also great, especially the bunkers and badasses one with Tiny Tina, who does not like Butt stallion?

I also like that in this game, you visit old areas of Borderlands 1, however Handsome Jack has messed up those areas quite badly, you have got to make him pay for that! Can you be the savior that Pandora needs? How? Just blow everyone up!

Rating

I rate Borderlands 2 with a 9.4 after playing.
If you are looking for a looter shooter, this is one of the best ones out there!

What are my personal thoughts about Borderlands 2?

I like the idea of so many guns, and everyone has their own preference! My wife loves snipers, she makes headshots without even trying and all the bandits are falling down, minus the head off course!

Rating

My personal Rating of Borderlands 2 is a 9.7!
Gotta shoot ’em all!

Last Words

Do not forget about the amazing side quest, shoot me in the face, where you shoot a bandit in the face, that one is amazing!

The replayability of this game is simply amazing! There are so many weapons, locations, enemies, challenges, quests, etc. It’s a near perfect game.

I’m glad that people like you are keeping BL2 in the media. We have to consider the fact the gaming community includes a lot of people who were too young to have played it when it launched. They may know what the game is, but they’re more likely to not consider it as something just as good if not better than things available today. It takes articles like this one to grab their attention so they get an idea of what they’re missing.

I really dislike the fact, that a lot of young gamers tend to pin fun games on, it needs to look pretty, or it needs to have fancy gizmos. Where is the time when a game was simple, fun, and just, plain old ugly! Yes, they may have been ugly but damn, some of those games are legendary!

Borderlands 2 was PEAK. I don’t know why they decided to shoot themselves in the foot with borderlands 3.. BL3 was a straight downgrade in terms of story and gameplay.

BL2 will stay forever in my heart. Can’t believe it came out 10 years ago damn!!!

And Borderlands 2 in co-op was just legendary! My brother and I played through it 3 times. We only wished that the hardest difficulty was available from the start.

Thanks for your review, i heard before that it is good, i had a chance to play it for a short amount of time (or maybe it was pre-sequel version, not sure) but i wasn’t impressed after all i heard but maybe given more time i would like it too.

I enjoyed playing it with my brother on PS3 specially side missions. My mistake was choosing the weakest class (Commando) and spending too much time in normal mode when you’ll have to beat it again in true vault hunter mode and ultimate.

Thanks for bringing attention to an old, but good game! From what I’ve heard, it’s unfortunately a lot better than Borderlands 3 turned out.

Borderlands, the series that popularized the looter shooters and its sequel that improved in all aspects, I wish 3 had continued like this :p

Man, Borderlands 2 was the pinnacle of Bordlerlands series – everything, from the characters, to the story, to the game play (even co-op) was a blast on this one.

But the best part of it all was the humor that stretched far and wide, with all kinds of jokes that didn’t spare anyone lol. They crafted this one light-hearted, didn’t they?
