Introduction
Today we are going to look at an indie game, one that has been buried by many other games in Steam. It is so odd, that I wanted to review it! We are talking about Clown town 1443. In this game, it is your job to race with a hand drawn car! Can you clown your way through all the levels?
What did I think before playing Clown Town 1443?
The developer contacted me some time ago, asking me to review this game. It took me a long time to finally get to playing this game! As for what I was supposed to expect in this game? I had no clue, all I knew was that I needed to race with a clown in a car. For more information, we went to the Steam Page!
The Steam Page
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1602330/clown_town_1443/
To be honest, the Steam Page does not tell me much. All it does say, is that this an Adobe game with a clown in a car. You would need to manage different resources to get to the next level. As I had no clue what to do, I literally had to jump into this game with barely any idea on what to expect.
Rating
I rate clown Town 1443 with a 5.5 before playing.
It is hard to know what to expect from this game.
Story
The story is quite simple, a clown invents a car, he then decides to drive off into the horizon to find the town of clowns.
Rating
I rate the story of Clown Town with a 2.5
The story was terrible, also it is only one wall of text!
Gameplay
You start with simple levels, these will learn you on how to drive your car. It is your goal to balance the car while driving over hills. If you go full throttle, you will need to watch out, as your engine will get too hot. This will shut down your car, this usually ends with you in a hole.
As you make your way through the game, you will find more and more obstacles. Most of these obstacles can and will kill you in one hit! You will need to avoid these at all costs! As a ladybug can crush your car! To do this, you will need to balance your car in the right way, while making sure that your car does not overheat!
If you complete enough levels, you will unlock a new mode, this mode is even more difficult as you even need to climb stairs and other weird buildings! Your progress is saved after every level.

I rate the gameplay of Clown Town 1443 with a 5.5.
The gameplay is indeed very basic, it is no wonder this game got buried in the Steam library.
Sound and Graphics
Graphics
The graphics are kind of strange, it looks like a small kid made the drawings. It is certainly unique, however, it is mostly annoying instead of being a great element in the game. The graphical elements, the obstacles, are able to kill you. It is best to avoid them!
Sound
The soundtracks were mostly garbage, it was only a few seconds before I muted it along with the sound effects.
Rating
I rate the sound and graphics of Clown Town 1443 with a 3.0.
This could have been done much better!
What did I think after playing Clown Town 1443?
This game was mostly annoying to play, the controls were quite janky. The overheating mechanics are mostly there to annoy you. It will do you zero good except for annoying you. Death has zero penalty yin this game, except for the fact that you need to retry the level.
This game also has a score multiplier, you can collect gems for this, but I still have no clue what the score is for except for there being a leaderboard that has not been updated in a long time. If you like racing games, it might be better to avoid this game and play something else!
Rating
I rate Clown Town 1443 with a 2.3 after playing.
We found a hidden game, now we know why it is hidden.
What are my personal thoughts about Clown Town 1443

My personal Rating of Clown Town 1443 is a a 2.0
Last Words
Pros
- Race as a clown!
- Learn to balance your clown car!
- Used artwork of his/her own child
Cons
- The story in this game is really bad!
- Bad soundtracks and sound effects
- Annoying mechanics

If the game is on sale, or it is in a bundle, you can play this game for a few hours of fun. Then you will most likely forget it exists.

One of those one man projects? I kinda like the graphics though.
The graphics stutter a lot as well, which was a problem for me.
Those are some MS Paint level graphics.
I always used MS Paint to draw funny pictures, lol.
Thanks for this review
Thank you for providing an honest review that was requested of you by the developer, as I highly appreciate transparency in journalism. This game looks very rough around the edges, and not in a charming way, although perhaps it makes the title “Clown Town” more fitting? Although I don’t understand where “1443” comes from, as this game certainly couldn’t take place within that year, unless this clown was a genius!
Also, although this game represents some of the worst that came out of the now defunct Adobe Flash program, I can say that there are far better Flash games out there based on my fond childhood memories, and that it is a shame Adobe shut down the program without archiving the countless programs made with Flash. Thankfully, fans have taken up the archiving themselves, with projects such as BlueMaxima’s Flashpoint archiving thousands of games from all kinds of different websites and containing lists that lets you know which games are worth your time. I would highly recommend checking it out whenever you have the time, or are perhaps are nostalgic for a specific Flash game!
I also have no clue what the 1443 stands for, it is indeed very rough around the edges.
Talking about Flash like that, it makes me feel old, as I used to love those games as a kid!
I will check it out to see if any games are good for a review!
Nice
interesting take on this game
You are welcome!
Made with Adobe? So that’s why it looks like this… Not the worst thing I’ve ever seen tbh, thanks for the review!
There are indeed worse things out there!
Looks like a game made by my little brother xD
Harsh, but honest. Good review!
You are welcome!
Spasibo!
The bad/basic graphics could be overlooked if the game was good, but that does not appear to be the case here.
Good review!
Small fun game. I wouldn’t play it, but let it find some players too.
I feel sorry for the developer but it’s certainly not a game that looks good, and the gameplay doesn’t appear to be much better
Maybe someone will like the game!
Thanks for the review!!
The only thing that looks good, it’s the piano song at the beginning of the stage. Although everything looks bad, I think this game could have more attention if it was released as a mobile game.
Awesome review!!!
