Introduction
Today we are traveling back in time, because, that is what you do in Chrono Trigger! This might be one of the earliest, and best time traveling games that has ever been made! It is also one of the first games that I played on the SNES, along with Lufia the Fortress of Doom! Oh, I really need to play that game again, but back to Chrono Trigger, in this game, you need to stop an evil entity that is going to destroy the future, so become a time traveler and stop the catastrophe!
What did I think before playing Chrono Trigger?
Well, Chrono Trigger is one of those masterpieces that no one dares to remaster, perhaps spruce up the graphics a bit. But, a remaster, or remake? No one is going to burn their hands on that. It could crash your company if done wrong. The fan backlash would be major! I still remember every little thing in the game, and yet, I always look forward to playing it again! My wife played this game on Steam recently, so, she will be providing screenshots and a video! For more information, we go to the Steam page!

What can I say, this game is just perfect, it always was, and will be. I do prefer the original SNES version, but that is just, my personal preference. The Steam version looked amazing. The plot is perfect, the time traveling is perfect, the characters, along with a secret character are perfect. It is even better if you grew up when this game was the best thing to have in your house. As the Nintendo 64 did not spawn many awesome role-playing games. I could not wait, to start playing again!

I rate Chrono Trigger with a 10 before playing.
Do I even need a reason for that?
Story
The story of Chrono Trigger takes place in multiple era’s, there are many main characters and there is so much to see and do in the story as you try to save the future from an ancient evil that came down in a comet, the basic concept? Time travelers try to beat up an alien!

I rate the story of Chrono Trigger with a 10.
You have a new game+ mode for even more story! There are over ten endings, including a super secret ending!
Gameplay
The gameplay of Chrono Trigger is a masterpiece. There are many era”s to explore and while doing so, you will encounter many enemies. This is a turn based combat game, unless you activate real time mode. If you play turn based, you can slowly make your choices while thinking of the perfect strategy. Every character has their own element, hitting an enemy with a magic spell will heal them if they have the same affinity.
While you make your way through the game, you will find many pieces of equipment and armor to enhance your stats. If you want the ultimate weapons and armor pieces, you are going to need to complete long side quests by traveling through many different eras. After you think that you ready to beat up the alien, there are even multiple ways to reach him. Depending on how you do, changes your ending.
All characters have different special attacks, these can even be combined with each other for double attacks and triple attacks. These are costly but most of the time very effective. Can you master the magic in this realm and save the future from an alien attack? What will your fate be in this grand tale!?

I rate the Chrono Trigger with a 10.
This was a revolutionary game for its time, it is still one of the best role playing games ever made!
Sound and Graphics
Graphics
The graphics of Chrono trigger have aged very well, it is barely noticeable that the game is almost as old as me, which is, very old. There are many different sprites, graphical awesomeness and more! The cutscenes are also perfect! This game just, has it all!
Sound
What is there not to love about the music in this game!? It is simply, perfect along with the sound effects. There is no improving upon this!

I rate the sound and graphics of Chrono Trigger with a 10
Are you ready for you ears to explode from lovely music?
What did I think after playing Chrono Trigger?
It is always fun to replay Chrono Trigger, despite that I have seen all the endings already. There are some really sad endings, it can even give you the chills. The work that was put into this game was amazing. If only Chrono Chross would be this good. It is still unclear to me, if that is a spin-off or not!
The best thing is to get overleveled and super powerful and then kill the alien in new game+ with only the main character. It give you a weird ending though. Can you defeat the alien? There are some weird spawns in the game, from that alien, and you can use their shells to climb mountains!

This is the best adventure ever!
wow
awsome
Super cool!
10/10 wow you like rpg games.
Just this one!
damn man 10/10
Old game but classic.
You can’t go wrong with a review of such a great game. Chrono Trigger, to this day, is still one of the best games ever made!
I have to agree with you!
Is it really a 10 out of 10? I have never played it. :O
This game is certainly a masterpiece and beloved classic, for all the reasons you listed in the review! I’m glad you were able to experience the game in your childhood. Did you experience any other beloved classics or cult classics during your childhood, like Earthbound?
I have also heard from many other sources that the SNES version (or an emulator) is the best way to experience the game, as the ports are lacking in several aspects and some of the things they add don’t hold up to the original experience. I’ve also heard that Chrono Cross doesn’t hold up as well, but have you ever experienced Radical Dreamers, a Chrono Trigger related game that was only released in Japan because of a SNES accessory that was only available there? If so, what did you think of it?
I am very interested in reviewing other Chrono games, or even fan made mods!
I did play Earthbound and many other cult classic games!
Have played many JRPG’s before but Chrono Trigger is one of my favorites. Hope you will check and review the other games in the Chrono series!
It is the idea!
This game looks really good, have to try it some day
10/10? Wow, you are retro gamer)
This was one of my first RPG games!
One of the best games ever, good thing we agree sven!
Very rarely we see a 10/10 haha
Some games close, but this one, it has such fond memories, and the weird part? It still feels as perfect as when I played it for the first time!
The perfect game!
I remember when I discovered it in the NDS catalog, a simply excellent game. The only drawback for me was that the color palette seemed very yellowish, but I read on forums that the SNES version does not look like that, the Steam version has this problem or has the color palette of the SNES version?
The SNES version is the best one!
The DS version does have extra features, I believe a new cave?
Очень хорошо!
Thank you for the review
I thought about that game and if it’s really 10/10 and has not so bad graphics then I should probably try this in the future. My favourite part of review is that there are a lot of secrets to discover, cuz I like looking for treasures.
Chrono Trigger keeps coming back to my mind when I think of games that I should play, and that makes me think back to Reviews by Supersven. 10/10 is what reassures me that I’m on the right plan to play it, but I always wonder whether I’ll have enough time to play it without big gaps. 😀
Whoever I ask, they praise the game so I will have to visit it, especially because I like the retro RPGs.
Just play it already!
