Introduction
Today we will be traversing the nine circles of hell, Dante’s Inferno will take you through a lot off horror like environments. I hope you don’t mind getting eaten by enemies, since they will want to snack on you regularly! There are also a lot of death traps in hell, at least if you die, you are in the afterlife already. It is your goal to save Beatrice and if possible stop Lucifer! Find out the story behind why Beatrice was taken by Lucifer in this amazing game!
What did I think before playing Dante's Inferno?
We were looking for a fun game to play on the Xbox gamepass service as we saw Dante’s Inferno, having seen the movie and also having read the first part of the poem, I was very eager to see what this game would be all about. Little did I know that I was about to stumble on a hidden gem! For more information, we went to the Microsoft store page!
The Microsoft store page
https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/dantes-inferno/C0X6N5963CTW
There is not a lot of information on the gameplay, but mostly the story, which is quite epic! You will need to face the dark past of Dante while traversing the circles of hell! By looking around a little more, I learned that you will gain experience points to learn new skills!
Rating
I rate Dante’s Inferno with a 9.2 before playing!
The premise of this game sound amazing!
Story
It all begins with Dante leaving on a holy crusade, however not every thing goes according to plan. Dante sins in this crusade, however unbeknownst to him at that time, Beatrice will pay for his sins. She is taken by Lucifer to the depths of hell, Dante will not let her pay for his sins, and thus he dives head first into hell to save his love.
Rating
I rate the story of Dante’s Inferno with a 10.
There is a reason why this story is still very well-known, it is a very good poem!
Gameplay
The gameplay of Dante’s Inferno is quite linear at times as you traverse the circles of hell. However, there are quite some unknown paths that will open a world of possibilities! You will find relics that can enhance different aspects of your attacks. These relics also can level up as you destroy enemies with either your scythe or a holy cross!
Since you have two ways of attacking, you also have two skill trees that you can upgrade. However, there are also two sorts of experience points that you can gain. Holy and unholy. If you want to level up your cross skills, you should use the cross and vice versa! There are also souls that you can either punish or absolve!
Each circle has their own environment and enemies. You will fight many bosses that need a special strategy. However, some environments might be too much for people, despite the age of this game. If you dislike gory insides of monsters as you get eaten by the circle of gluttony, this game might not be for you.

I rate the gameplay of Dante’s Inferno with a 9.2.
This is really a hidden gem from the past, this is a game that either needs a remake or sequel.
Sound and Graphics
Graphics
The graphics of Dante’s Inferno are fairly good for an old game. The cutscenes are numerous and tell you the story in a fashionable way. There is a lot of enemy and boss variety in each circle of hell. The attacks are polished and unique as well!
Sound
The sound in Dante’s Inferno is very good, especially for an old game! The cutscenes have great voice acting, there is also a lot of creepy ambient sound, this would scare me if I were still young!
Rating
I rate the sound and graphics of Dante’s Inferno with a 9.6.
You barely notice that this is an old game!
What did I think after playing Dante's Inferno?
The fun fact is that this game also has a new game+ mode! This adds a whole new layer of replay value to the game, while also having few bugs due to heavy testing, you know how the old developers would do it! That is how I like my game, finished when you buy it!
The gameplay is very good, the combat works properly, there are multiple skill trees and the environments are amazing! If you are looking for a fun action game with horrific elements, Dante’s Inferno is the game that is looking to drag you down into the nine circles of hell!
Rating
I rate Dante’s Inferno with a 8.7 after playing.
There are some minor elements that can be bothersome for some people like getting eaten alive, crushed to death multiple times, minor sexual content, otherwise I would have rated it higher after playing!
What are my personal thoughts about Dante's inferno?
My wife and I had a lot of fun when playing this game, we even replayed the whole game to get all the goodies and recorded it! I hope you enjoy watching us play this game, we certainly enjoyed it!

Let me know what you think of Dante’s Inferno in the comments!
I hope you enjoyed reading this review, I hope to see you in the next review!
If you liked reading this review, maybe you would like to share this review with your friends!
I don’t agree. Maybe 8.0 cuz graphics not satisfied for me.
Good review. Sucks it was not released on pc…
I agree!
Knew about this game but never seen a video of it, looks really good and good info about it
the graphics were great when the game was released (around ~2010), but it has aged a lot during these years… its still good though!
One of the best slasher games
Gotta rip ’em apart!
damn the DLC has it’s own monsters. i never get a chance 🙁
That is one of the biggest cons ever!
This sounds like a really fun gem! It’s unfortunate that I don’t have an Xbox and that it isn’t on Steam, are there any other platforms it is available on? Older games really are the best sometimes, especially since they are often fully completed and tested. Also, the gore and such definitely isn’t a turnoff for me as I love those kind of monster designs! I say they still look pretty good despite the game being around a decade or so old.
Yeah, they need a platform that is specially made for older games from all kinds of consoles!
I’ve had my eye on this ever since it was released. Shame it was console-exclusive, I would have played it a long time ago. I recently got an Xbox Serie S, and I’ll get around to play it soon.
I hope you will enjoy the game!
Well done review with no major spoilers, and a video to check the graphics and ambience music.
I am glad that you like the review!
Great and underrated game. It had some really challenging puzzles, and boss battles.
It is a very hidden gem!
I love this game.
But I’ve never played it before. My mother tongue version hasn’t been released…;(
Remaster, remake, sequel, anything is fine, I hope this continues.
Any game that allows you to tear heads off is OK with me.
Ripping sounds occur!
It looks average to me but I guess a proper pc release could eventually happen. Meanwhile you can try it with emulators.
If I’m not mistaken, they had even thought of doing a sequel. Too bad they interrupted it! 🙁
This was a good read! 😀
I still think it needs a sequel or a remake/remaster, when it came out it was overshadowed by god of war but nowadays there are not many hack and slash games of this style so maybe it would do better
I agree!
I think a sequel would be awesome!
I played it but never finished it because i started university, i guess i should revisit it and see if my old xbox 360 still works
Time to get playing!
Thanks for this review! I would like to play this game on my PC…
You could always try sharing the screen or even emulating it!
I like the idea of old historical novels being turned into games. I would like Moby Dick next. There’s also an anime film that goes with the game that I can highly recommend.
