Introduction
Today we are going to look at a game that has you fight, puzzle, and enter dangerous dungeons to find new tools. That will make you backtrack to said dungeons to get more loot! I am talking about Darksiders 1 where you play as the horseman of War! This is a wild action game that is quite old already but is this a game that you should play?
What did I think before playing Darksiders 1?
My wife and I were in the mood for a game where you had some dungeons to explore, a fun action game with a decent story! Oh, and there need to be a lot of secrets to uncover. Everyone likes secrets, checking every nook and cranny, do not forget about the backtracking. That is when we came across Darksiders 1, it seemed to have everything we want, including amazing fights! For more information we went to the Steam page!

It seems War has some neat moves up his sleeve as we need to get ready for epic battles while we quest through the wasteland of what once was earth! As you progress through the game, you will find new weapons, new tools, and more powers! It seems like a fun game where we got to unleash our anger on demons and angels! Can you survive this apocalyptic wasteland?
Rating
I rate Darksiders 1 with a 7.8 before playing.
If you are looking for a fun action game, this seems to be a good choice!
Story
Heaven and hell have been at war for a long time until the council stopped them. They would be allowed to continue when the third kingdom, humans were strong enough. However, before that happens, the horseman of War is summoned as heaven and hell are destroying the humans. He soon learns out the seal was not broken, and it is up to War to find out what is going on.
Rating
I rate the story of Darksiders 1 with an 8.5.
The story is fun but it takes a while to get to the climax of the story, it just dragged on but the ending was good!
Gameplay
The gameplay of Darksiders has a lot of action, but it also has elements of hacking and slashing. As many enemies will stand in your way, and once you get the scythe, you can reap them in a very efficient matter! This is even needed to gain souls. These souls can be used to upgrade many skills, or even buy new attacks at the shop. If you are in need, you can also buy potions or rage potions, but I would advise against this.
The battle mechanics work properly, and you can even use a gun later on, or you can punch your enemies to death, whatever you like. To gain more souls, you can find artifacts for the shopkeeper. While you progress through the levels, War will grow stronger and stronger. This includes your weapons leveling up as you use them. So, if you like the scythe, you should use it a lot to make it stronger. Or you could go for a balanced route and level all weapons.
As you progress through the stories, you will learn many new skills, and even gain upgrades for your weapon. These slotted upgrades can be a major boon to your character. There is even a missable one, this is in the place where you need to kill more angels as your opponent. These upgrades can be very useful to take down the strong bosses that you will encounter.

I rate the gameplay of Darksiders with a 7,1
While the game is fun, the dungeons and the fights can get a bit, repetitive.
Sound and Graphics
Graphics
The graphics of Darksiders are pretty good for a old game, and it has aged well. There is also a big variety of enemies and ways to take them down. There are many different dungeons that you will need to make your way through. Each one of them has a dangerous boss for you at the end. The gory kills are amazing, I like when things die in games all bloody. Splish splash!
Sound
The soundtracks are very fun and catchy. I liked how each area has a very specific soundtrack. The voice actors did an amazing job.

I rate the sound and graphics of Darksiders 1 with an 8.1.
It is always satisfying to see bosses die in epic ways!
What did I think after playing Darksider 1
My wife and I had the problem that the gameplay got a bit repetitive as the story just kept dragging on. However, the dungeons were fun, except for the ones with the beams. You need to redirect the beams! Yes, I get it already, give me some time! And then the NPC yells it again, just great. Like I do not know that.
The many tools that you gained in the dungeons were fun to find and use. Especially the hookshot, but that one is always a hoot to use in action games. Swing to the secrets! This one made us backtrack a lot to get all the secrets this game has to offer us. And they’re quite a lot but luckily, there are also special weapon stones that can help you with finding loot!

I rate Darksiders 1 with a 7.0 after playing.
The story dragged on for a bit too long for our taste.
What are my personal thoughts about Darksiders 1?
This game has fun combat, fun tools, a great story! However, I hate those stupid worms! Luckily, once you have the horse that is named Ruin, you can easily kill them! No more bad worms for me! Just shoot them with your gun, show them no mercy!
Rating
My personal Rating of Darksider 1 is a 6.9
While the gameplay is very fun, and I like the dungeons, it got a bit too repetitive for my taste.

I played Darksiders quite a long ago, but it did not feel dragging, I really enjoyed it. At the time of release, it was probably the one and the only alternative to God of War. Maybe playing it now I would change my mind.
It just feels as if the story gets dragged out a lot. It might be a bit personal, but you would expect something more fast-paced for a game that has you go rampaging through demons!
Nice Review
Thank you!
This game sounds pretty fun, but I must know…since you play as a horse rider riding various horses, can you pet them?! This may be a crucial factor to consider for some!
As far as I know, there is no petting the horse. And, you can only summon it in few places.
I’ll have to replay this game. Didn’t have the time last year to finish it, but it was fun!
It is indeed a fun game!
This game along with it’s sequel are EXTREMELY under rated titles. Btw.: War and Kratos would make an awesome team!
They would indeed make an amazing team!
Super!
time to ragnarok and roll, baby!
Great saga and this is one of the cool games, even getting repetitive I like the genre
It is indeed a fun genre!

Fair enough

Sounds like fun, and I love those stats!
i like this kind of games, i have the series in my backlog for a long time but i haven’t started any of them yet.
Well, get playing then!
This game is on my top 10 list of my fav best games
Never played it but it looks good
You should try it!
This looks like a really good series! The dungeons and bosses sound very fun and I love that the weapons level up as you use them!
It is kind of logic that your weapon levels up if you use them, right? I mean, you get more proficient when using a weapon.
