Introduction

Today we will be looking at a  requested game review, Roman requested this game, Kitaria Fables! This is a fun action RPG game that you can play in couch co-op! You are a cat, and also a magic wielder! There are also different areas to explore, and they all have different enemies for you to fight! Instead of leveling up, this game is mostly gear based in progression. If you do not upgrade your weapons and gear, death is certain!

What did I think before playing Kitaria Fables?

I did not know what to expect when we started this game, but I was interested in this game. Mostly due to the co-op of this game, there is also farming,  not exp farming but like actual farming, fruits and veggies! Collect those seeds and start earning some money! We also did not know what to expect from the story, but we were quite intrigued. For more information, we went to the Steam page!

The Steam Page

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1356280/Kitaria_Fables/
The Steam page looks amazing and has a great deal of information! It shows some of the most important functions from this game. You will get a house in Paw Village where you can farm or rest out! It is your goal to protect Paw village as a low rank soldier, this means killing monsters and saving villagers!

Rating

I rate Kitaria Fables before playing with a 7.5
The game does look fun, but I did not know what to expect, I was mostly interested in the co-op! Cat games always interest us!

Story

Kitaria Fables starts out with the calamity being subdued, the calamity made monsters go berserk. However, monsters near Paw village still seem to be aggressive, you are sent as a soldier to protect the village, at the village you can stay at your uncles farm.  Outside the village you meet a sage, from this sage you learn how to use your magic abilities that you apparently inherited from your uncle, however magic is forbidden in this country! It is your goal to save the village, stop the monsters and learn how to use your newfound abilities without getting caught!

Rating

I rate the story of Kitaria Fables with a 6.6
Even though there is a fun story, it ends on a weird note, there also seem to be some loopholes.

Gameplay

In Kitaria Fables, you fight in real-time to defeat enemies using either your magic or weapons. You can explore a huge area fairly quickly in the game, but more areas keep opening up as you progress through the story. However, you will need better gear to defeat stronger monsters. To get stronger gear you will need to defeat enemies and gather their loot, your inventory is not unlimited, if you require more storage, you can find storage chests on your farm!

There are four elements in this game, of all elements you can learn magic! To learn new magic skills you need spheres, for that you will need vengeful souls dropped by enemies. You might also need some items from mini-boss monsters that roam the world!  There are quite some unbalanced skills and spells, the same goes for the enemies that attack you.

There are many side quests next to the main quest, but most of them are simple fetch or kill quests. What is more rage inducing, is that some quests can be extremely hard to find. We are still looking for some hidden quests after finishing the game. Completing some of these side quests will unlock new seeds, but the rarest seeds can be bought from the traveling merchant. The traveling merchant also sells more inventory space. There is a lot more to Kiteria Fables, but I will let you find that out for yourself!

Rating

I rate the gameplay of Kitaria Fables with a 7.2
The co-op is amazing in this game, gathering loot is always fun, but the game is unbalanced.

Sound and Graphics

Graphics

The graphics are quite amazing but what looks good at first glance, shows some heavy faults when looked into in detail! There are quite some textures that you could walk through, black areas on the side and cameras that turn in the wrong direction. What is cool, though, is that the armor changes when equipping new gear!

Sound

The sound effects and soundtracks are quite repetitive, while fun in the beginning. The story scenes are quite sluggish. This does not mean that the all the soundtracks are boring, there are quite some fun soundtracks!

Rating

I rate the sound and graphics of Kitaria Fables with a 6.7
The graphics have some issues and the soundtracks repetitive, but however the graphics do look nice! The villagers are also animals, as are the guards!

What did I think after playing Kitaria Fables?

While my wife and I did enjoy our time with the play through of Kitaria Fables, we did have to grind a little but not too much. The biggest grind was getting enough money, the best way to earn money was to make pumpkin stews! You can plant over 300 crops at one given time! This game does mostly focus on real-time combat and gathering materials, which unfortunately makes the farming mostly unnecessary.

In co-op this game is trivial, when one person dies, just keep running circles till the other person is back on their feet. Dying also has no bad effect on you like losing gold, you just need to wait to be revived. The endgame boss was trivial as well, there was not even a second phase! There were many other fights that were tougher!

Rating

I rate Kitaria Fables with a 6.3 after playing.
My wife and I enjoyed the co-op mode a lot, but we were also glad when we could move on to the next game!

What are my personal thoughts about Kitaria Fables?

The most fun part of this game is the combat and not the farming. The farming feels a little underwhelmed in this game. I wish there were more options and seeds!

Rating

My personal Rating of Kitaria Fables is a 7.1
The story ended too weird for me, is there a DLC coming or maybe a Kiteria Fables 2?

Not really for me it seems, but I do appreciate coop is a thing in this game. A lot of games that aren’t even that great feel instantly fun the second you have someone to play it with!

It looks like a good game overall. The review is quite well writen, however that gives enough to see both the good and bad things. For the good, it looks like a good and fun game for co-op, but for the bad, it seems that it still needs some work from the developers to fix the balance.
    Thank you for the review

The agriculture part I think is as you say, quite unnecessary, it feels like it was added without much work or thought, just to take advantage of people who are interested in this topic and try to get more sales/money.
    Nice review 🙂

It’s cool to have an RPG game with animals, same way this kind of games many times can have orcs or different races, control a cat fits with it too
