Introduction

Today we are going to review the game that is called No Time to Explain, however the is no time to explain, just kidding. This is a weird game that looks like it has been made when someone was bored on a Sunday morning, but the question remains, is this game fun to play? There will be no story section, there is no time to explain why since there is no real story to explain about. Do you follow?

What did I think before playing No Time to Explain

The game looked fun and colorful at first glance, weird mechanics with some kind of laser. There was even a giant crab kidnapping, the future you? Yeah, this is going to get complicated. It seems to be your goal, to save yourself from a variety of monsters that always kill you? I don’t know for sure, it is getting complicated already, perhaps, it is time to check out the Steam page!?

The Steam Page

It is clear that this game is remastered, the graphics look, very cartoony. It seems that you are mostly going to fight giant monsters while gliding through levels with futuristic guns. The mechanics seemed to be very complicated. There even seem to be hidden hats, but who would want the hats when you can fight giant monsters!?

Rating

I rate No Time to Explain with a 7.1 before playing.
It seems like a fun game that someone build just for a little bit of fun.

Gameplay

The game starts out action packed in a few seconds of booting up, you are kidnapped, no wait, that is not right. You see your future self get kidnapped by a giant crab, but he drops his gun. This will be your main weapon for the game. As you are not only going to need it for killing things, you will also need it for gliding through the platforms, and this is, hard!

The levels may repeat after going through one, but they will always look different compared to the previous time that you have played the level, by example because there are now spikes! One of the most annoying obstacles is water, once you fall in, it is going to become hard to come out of the water. You will need to invert control with your gun otherwise, you are only going down!

Once you reach the end of a stage, you will need to face a boss fight, and you only have three lives. The weak points are fairly obvious, but the gliding mechanics make these battles very hard. Especially those spikes, the controls are extremely janky. It was not just fun with these annoying controls. However, the mechanic of gliding through the levels can be fun while you look for the secret hats.

Rating

I rate the gameplay of No Time to Explain with a 6.2.
While the game can be fun, the janky controls are just, extremely annoying.

Sound and Graphics

Graphics

The graphics are a bit, too weak for me, as if someone had time over on a Sunday morning. While the graphics do stir me as fun and cartoony, it just is, mediocre.

Sound

The soundtrack annoyed me more than that I actually enjoyed it, the sound effects, they were even worse. The voice acting should be perfect or something but it is mostly annoying.

Rating

I rate the sound and graphics of No Time to Explain with a 4.2.
The graphics and soundtracks are barely mediocre.

What did I think after playing No Time to Explain?

While this game did seem fun at first, that is just it, the game is fun for the first few minutes. But after a while you are just thinking, why am I wasting my time like this? While the challenge in the levels do increase, they are just extremely easy to pass through, even if you are messing around a bit.

Then come the boss fights, compared to the platforming levels that you have played before, these are really hard. Not because the boss is actually hard, but you are mostly fighting the mechanics instead of the boss itself. Which can be seen very clearly in the shark boss fight! Most of the time, the mechanics kill me instead of the shark!

Rating

I rate No Time to Explain with a 5.4 after playing.
This game was fun for a little while but after that, I was just, done with it. Fighting the mechanics was tiring, not fun!

What are my personal thoughts about No Time to Explain?

This whole game makes no sense and is very complicated. What even is going on? I have no clue, but you need to kill stuff while avoiding spikes, that is about it!

Rating

My personal Rating of No Time to Explain is a 5.5.
This is a mediocre game that is fun for one play session.

Last Words

Pros

Cons

I wonder what is wrong with the house of the main character, it keeps breaking down while giant monsters capture him!

More like this, if controls are as annoying as you said in the review.

Btw, the game looks like it fell out of the flash games era. Newgrounds stuff. 😀

Thanks for the review, been wanting to try it. Knowing that it has janky controls is kind of a no go for me. Other than that, the game looks fun
