Introduction

Today we are going to look at another first-person shooter game. This time we are going to look at Prodeus, what will you be doing in this game? Mostly shooting monsters and blowing off their heads! Which is always fun, but there is not a real story here. All you need to do is gather more guns, go through the levels and blow up some monsters. Since there is no story in this game, I will not write a story section.

What did I think before playing Prodeus?

While I did not know what kind of game Prodeus is, it looked like another first-person shooter game that I could enjoy. Luckily this game is also on Xbox Gamepass, meaning it is accessible for a lot of people. My first impression is that this game has old-school graphics. However, the game came out in 2022, thus I am curious how the developers managed to recreate it. For more information I went to the Steam page!

The Steam page

The retro look is indeed cool, and it is in the modern era. I am wondering how this is going to blend together. Or if it even blends together. There is only one way to find out! There is also a lot of blood when killing enemies, I can always enjoy that. Who does not like a lot of blood raining down? It is time for a lot of chaos to begin, and for the people that enjoy it, I believe there is a level editor!

Rating

I rate Prodeus with an 8.4 before playing.
This game looks fun upfront, some shooting, a lot of blood, what could possible go wrong?

Gameplay

The gameplay of Prodeus is fairly simple, you are dropped in levels that will make you pull the hair out of your skin while you are looking where to go. Most of the time you will have to find some key to progress to the next level. Do not expect to find this key with ease, or that it will not be protected because taking a key from monsters, is never easy.

While you are wandering through the complex levels, you will find guns, and a lot of monsters. There is only one decent thing to do to monsters. You pull your gun and send them back to hell or wherever they belong. There are multiple guns, and most of them have different mods, for example, aiming with the pistol allows you burst fire, instead of shooting normal bullets.

There is even a world map for selecting the levels, and for the people that love a map. Somewhere in the levels you will find a map. This will make it much easier to navigate through the complex levels. However, these maps are also guarded. Kill those monsters, there are other secrets to find and unlock. These are always fun to look for.

Rating

I rate the gameplay of Prodeus with an 8.7.
If you are looking for a fun FPS game, then this is a fairly good one!

Sound and Graphics

Graphics

The graphics off Produes are good, I enjoyed them and there are ways to make the game even more retro. But, I liked the standard way. It feels like a modern but old-school Doom. The monsters love to get their heads blown off, and for some reason, it is always satisfying when a monster dies and make that special noise that he is dead.

Sound

The soundtracks are fun and upbeat, it keeps you on your toes while exploring the levels. The sound effects are great as well!

Rating

I rate the sound and graphics of Prodeus with a 8.1
If you like retro games but want a new experience, this is where you need to be!

What did I think after playing Prodeus?

I had a lot of fun when playing through the levels, there is a big difference in areas, enemies and other graphical items. The difficulty felt perfectly balanced. There is enough health or armor to pick up for if you messed up, which can always happen. There are enough places to hide and shoot from. You can even punch corpses!

We off course need to talk about the blood in this game, is there enough of it? Yes, there is! This game will make it rain blood and corpses! Huzzah, that is perfect for me. The more gore, the better. I mean, who does not love some walls that are splashed red!

Rating

I rate Prodeus with an 8.9 after playing.
This is a great and fun FPS game to play!

What are my personal thoughts about Prodeus?

I liked this game a lot, not the best I have ever played, but I liked that it is trying to cater to multiple people instead of one audience. And I think this game did a great job at that.

Rating

My personal Rating of Prodeus is a 7.5.
Another fun game!

Looks oldschool 😀 I bet it’s a lot of fun for people who love this genre. I’m not that much into retro style though. And I appreciate a good story…

Why do I smell a renaissance of DOOM-like shooters? Maybe all the stress in the world made some people wish for some aggressive type of catharsis, like real men apparently do.

It’s good that secrets are hard to find!

Also, this one needs more marketing, because it’s a total blast to watch and play.

Shooter games can be really fun but I prefer one that’s more colourful with cool & creative enemies! The graphics are usually quite boring and bland in these fps games
