Introduction

Today we are going to review another Resident Evil game, we are going full action, gone with the horror! We are going to review Resident Evil 6. This is a game with multiple scenarios that you must complete, it is more, shooty mcshooty compared to other Resident Evil games. You are going to run into the fray and start blasting like an idiot. Is your zombie not dead yet? Just, break their neck or something, perhaps punch them in the face? Not that there are a lot of zombies in this game!

What did I think before playing Resident Evil 6?

We had a lot of fun when playing other Resident Evil games, so we decided to try this game, instead of Resident Evil 5. We were interested in the co-op play.  There were also multiple scenarios to play. We were interested on how they would intertwine with each other. Sadly, we already there was not much horror in this game. For more information, we went to the Steam Page.

The Steam store page

https://store.steampowered.com/app/221040/Resident_Evil_6/
It is clear that once again you will be stopping a virus attack, however this time it is on global scale as it is not just contained to one location. The C virus just does not like making zombies but also other weird creatures. It is time to kung fu your way through hordes of zombies, if you can shoot it, you can also punch it!

Rating

I rate Resident Evil 6 with a 6.7 before playing.
It is quite sad there is no horror at all anymore!

Story

There are four stories that are intertwined, you need to play them all to understand the full story. The story is quite good, as you will uncovered many secrets about the C virus while saving the world, who will be your favorite character?

Rating

I rate the story of Resident Evil 6 with an 8.2.
It is time to stop the C virus!

Gameplay

This is a game that needs to be seen as an action game, and not like a horror game. Since there are barely any small hallways or horror scenes. You will be running through zombies with weird names while blasting them to pieces. Either in solo or co-op play. There are four different campaigns, and they all interact with each other in a certain way. So, to get the whole story you need to play all of them.

Running out of bullets is going to be hard, since bullets drop like candy. However, each character has different guns. But the A.I. is not very smart, so it is best to play with someone else. If you do run out of bullets, you can just kung fu all the zombies to dead! There are some bosses, but they are not every dangerous to take down. There is the problem of saving, you can only save in between chapters, or you need to start all over again!

While going through the game, you are going to find skill points, there are some huge skill points stack hidden in the game. After every chapter, you get the chance to buy new skills. For some, you are going to need a lot of them, but it will make the game much easier! It all depends on your gameplay style on what skills you are going to need!

Rating

I rate the Resident Evil 6 with a 7.3.
If you see it as an action game, it is at least decent, there are no boulder punches in this game!

Sound and Graphics

Graphics

The graphics of Resident Evil 6 are amazing, this game is soon ten years old as of writing this review. The cutscenes are amazing, but you always need to be on your toes, since quick time events are going to bombard you at every corner! These are very annoying, especially if you just want to take a sip of your drink, you are going to be like, oh fudge!

Sound

The soundtracks are very good, but there is no horror anymore, all you will hear is upbeat music to shoot up some zombies! Or whatever weird name they have in this game! They are just damn mutants! As for the sound effects, they are amazing along with the voice acting!

Rating

I rate the sound and graphics of Resident Evil 6 with a 7.9
At least you have something pretty to look at while doing quick time events!

What did I think after playing Resident Evil 6?

My wife and I did have fun when playing this game, but there was no horror element at all. While the story was fun to see, it was never clear when there would be quick time events. They always seemed to spawn at the most inconvenient times! Off course, we liked the campaign part with Leon the most. Helena was very good at screaming, LEON!

What we did like in the zombie variants this time, was the tyrant. It was a T-rex! I like dinosaurs, even if it’s a giant mutated T-Rex that wants to eat us. However, the boss fight itself was too easy. The puzzle on how to beat the giant zombie eating fly was harder.

Rating

I rate Resident Evil 6 with a 6.4 after playing.
There is a bit too much of those quick time events!

What are my personal thoughts about Resident Evil 6?

Perhaps, it would be better to add a little more horror in this game, or they could have made it a spin-off game, in those, you can experiment a little! Why did Chris never punch a boulder in this game?

Rating

My personal Rating of Resident Evil 6 is a 6.0
It was a meager but fun experience for a Resident Evil game!

Last Words

Pros

Cons

There is not much to say about this game, so, anyway, I started blasting zombies! Out of bullets? Kung fu them all to death!

Final Rating

I’ve tried to play it once on PS3 with my friend in co-op, and something did not clicked for us… while the RE5 we completed with much satisfaction. I really hope that on PC it is way better.

Well, your score is spot on. While it is RE game, it feels slow and lacks the horror aspects. The camera shakes don’t make it any better. :$

It seems like a fun action game if that is what you’re looking for, but diehard fans of the older Resident Evil titles may be disappointed in this game by the sound of it. I suppose I’m fine with both horror and action games, though as you mention in your review, it may have been better for them to make this game a spinoff if they wanted to experiment with a different genre.

Everyone seems to agree that it’s probably the worst game in the franchise. It still seems like a pretty decent action game.

RE6 was so disappointing and mediocre that Capcom had to reinvent the whole wheel with RE7 and I’m glad they did. I hope they completely remake it.
