Introduction
We are delving into a game that has you madly clicking your screen. Tamago Monsters Returns! It is your job to hatch eggs and overcome the dungeons. There are multiple areas for you to discover, weapons to use and more! Each area has different kind of eggs. Depending on what kind of weapon you use, the longer or short it will take to open the egg. There will be no story, as there is none in this game.
What did I think before playing Tamago Monsters Returns?
Tamago Monsters Returns is a game that intends for you to feed monsters to feed them after you have saved them. Knowing Tamagotchi from my past, I was wondering if this game would be the same. It looked like a fun game to pass the time! How many monsters would there be? Wondering what kind of game mechanics this game would have, I visited the play store!
The Play Store page
https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/tamago-monsters-returns/id891190487
The page is not very helpful as all can see, it is mostly a tapping game where you need to open eggs and then visit a dungeon to do more tapping! However, can it be fun? There was only one way to find out, could we collect enough monsters and visit the dungeon! How much dungeon floors can we complete?
Rating
I rate Tamago Monsters Returns before playing with a 5.5
How much can we play this game before the tapping gets boring?
Gameplay
The gameplay takes place in several areas, most of them can be unlocked by leveling up, which is done by tapping eggs, lots of eggs. You start in the first area, with low level eggs. Which is useful since you have a low tier weapon. When looking for eggs, you need energy to search the area. No worries, when it is empty you can spend a few gold coins to get your energy back. However, you also need it to buy food or even buy better weapons. You will find new gold coins as you look around in areas.
When looking for eggs, you will also find quests, these must be completed within a time limit, or they will expire. These quests are usually quite easy, as it is mostly to open a certain amount of eggs. The harder quests want you to open rare eggs, these rare eggs also contain special monsters. There is a bestiary of your monsters, this will allow you to see how many you have of a certain monster. This is also where you can feed them, feeding your monsters will also grow them.
If you grow your monsters, you can partake in the dungeon where boss monsters roam. To beat them up, you will need ten strong monsters! If you monsters have been fed well enough and reacehd their max level, they can use a special skill! This is the place where you go to find gold! If you have a lot of luck, you might even find evolution orbs. Certain monsters can evolve and become even stronger! Upgrading your weapons, also helps in the dungeon!

I rate the gameplay of Tamago Monsters Returns with a 6.8.
While this game is fun, the fun ends very quickly for some reason. It is very repetitive as you just keep clicking on eggs!
Sound and Graphics
Graphics
The graphics of Tamago Monsters Returns are not very good, not even for a mobile game. Each level has new eggs, though, which is a fun detail. Searching the area is basically a refresh of a picture, zooming in and then zooming out. There are quite a bunch of monsters to collect, however, next to the dungeon and selling them they are quite useless.
Sound
The soundtracks are very boring in this game. The sound effects are just the same clicking sounds repeatedly. The boss warning is extremely loud for no reason, it is also impossible to mute this game, making it impossible to play while listening to music on your phone.
Rating
I rate the sound and graphics of Tamago Monsters Returns with a 2.6
Most of the soundtracks and sound effects are just the same all over, they are also broken, which means you cannot mute them.
What did I think after playing Tamago Monsters Returns?
While I did have fun when playing the game, it became repetitive quite quickly. Another big issue was that when I wanted to mute the game, it was impossible. Getting the rare monsters was also very hard to do. Realizing you will need five of them to evolve one, seems just like harsh gameplay. You will need these monsters if you even want to make a dent in some of the stronger boss monsters!
There is a special area that you can only visit at night, this is a gameplay mechanic that I dislike very much. You cannot assume as the developer that someone has time when you want them too. It is even worse that this area has one of the best monsters in the game!
Rating
I rate Tamago Monsters Returns with a 4.1 after playing.
While the idea is fun, it seems like a rushed, broken game.
What are my personal thoughts about Tamago Monsters Return?
The game annoyed me with the soundtracks and sound effects. I was unable to mute them, this led me to playing the game less than I would have liked for the review!

My personal Rating of Tamago Monsters Return with a 2.2
Last Words
Pros
- Click eggs to release the monsters inside them!
- Collect new weapons to deal more damage
- Explore multiple areas for more monsters
- Play through dungeons with the monsters that you have found.
Cons
- You keep hearing the same soundtrack and sound effects over and over again
- Evolving creatures is way to expensive
- The graphics are really bad
- It is impossible to mute the game
- There are time locked areas
If you dislike clicker games, this is a game that you must avoid, if you do like clicker games, this might be worth a try. If you do not mind the horrible graphics and sound!

I don’t like this kind of games, good review Sven
Glad you liked the review!
Good review! To me, playing games like this would feel like a chore.
To me, it was a chore, but I review these games to show people the bad side of gaming as well! Some mobile games are fun though!
I most definitely dislike clickers, so this is not for me.
There are some good clicker games out there though! They might be hard to find, but they exist somewhere, who knows I might find one in the future!
