Introduction to Katamari Damacy Reroll
This game is a remaster from the game called Katamari Damacy from the Playstation2 with upgraded graphics. Katamari Damacy can be translated into English to the words clump spirit. I think this means that your katamari absorbs the soul of everyday items and living beings. There are multiple sequels to Katamari Damacy but they are not remastered yet. I can guarantee you some of the katamari games will be reviewed later in their original form. This is a very fun but short game in which you roll a ball. The ball is called a katamari. Normally I would tell you the genre the game belongs to but honestly, I have no clue what genre this game is.
The game is very weird in the gameplay and it makes no sense whatsoever. However, the gameplay is oddly satisfying. You could list this as a casual play style. Nothing in the game is too stressful and the graphics are fun to look at.

Your goal in the game is to roll the katamari over everyday objects to increase the size of the katamari. For every mission, you accept there is another goal you need to reach. Rolling over common household items may not seem fun to you at first but when the katamari gets so big that you are able to roll over cats and dogs, the game gets hilarious. The cats and dogs will attach to your katamari and start to wiggle around! This gets even better when you can rollover the humans and they start to wiggle as well. The katamari can reach over 500 meters in diameter in the final mission, maybe even bigger if you try really hard.
Imagine what you can attach to your katamari, icebergs, clouds, and even islands! Why would you attach all these items to your katamari?  When the katamari reaches the size you have been asked in the mission it will become a star in the sky.

Beware spoilers!

Story
The God of the Cosmos has a party and he gets drunk. I really wonder how a god can get drunk though. However, He flies a spaceship through space (drunk flying). He manages to do the impossible and hit every star and constellation near the earth, leaving the sky completely blank.
The God of the Cosmos barely acknowledges He has destroyed everything. The God of the Cosmos is not going to clean his own mess up. He summons you, the prince of the cosmos. You are only five centimeters tall and still, need to learn how to use your katamari.
The God of the Cosmos orders you to clean his mess up and re-create the constellations and stars. In the end, you even need to re-create the moon. The moon needs a very large katamari to be replaced.

There is a side story alongside the main story. This story is about the Hoshino family. The mother and her kids travel to the space station to see their father leave for space. The father of the family is an astronaut and is unable to go to the moon because it disappeared suddenly.
The little girl called Michiru can feel the presence of the prince and the god of the cosmos. On rare occasions Michiru can even see them. In the end, the whole family gets rolled up in the katamari and end up on the new moon.

Gameplay
The most important thing in Katamari Damacy Reroll is the katamari. Without the katamari you can achieve nothing in this game. Luckily you can never lose the katamari.
You start with a small katamari that can grow very big if you have the patience. You can’t keep growing the katamari forever otherwise your time will run out on the mission that you have selected. Every mission has a different amount of time to complete the katamari size that is requested by the God of the Cosmos. You will travel to different countries each mission to collect enough items for the katamari to grow into a star. If you fail to grow the katamari to the requested size in the time given by the God of the Cosmos you need to retry the mission. There are not many missions but they are all very well constructed. If you want to be the true prince of the Cosmos you can replay the missions until you have the perfect katamari star. Completing all the missions with the biggest possible katamari earns you the last achievement on Steam. You need this achievement if you want to platinum Katamari Damacy Reroll.
Next to the normal star missions there will be constellation missions to fill the skies. You will be tasked to gather as many items from a special kind as possible. For example: Fish, eggs, or girly items. You will be laughing when you see so many fish on your katamari wiggling! The best thing about the katamari was for me: all the dinosaurs!
Learning the controls in Katamari Damacy Reroll can be very hard. Using the keyboard did not work for me that was why I switched to the controller. After practicing much with the controller I finally got the hang of rolling the katamari.
You can collect presents in all the different missions to equip the prince of the Cosmos with accessories. Collecting all the presents will give you an achievement on Steam.

Pros
Rolling the katamari while it is absorbing all kinds of items feels very satisfying.
It is fun that humans try to run away from the katamari.
The mission system works well.
The story is a little odd but satisfying.
There are a lot more of the katamari games.
The game does not get repetitive even though you are pretty much doing the same.
A good combination of fantasy and realistic items to roll over.

Cons
The game is too short.
The controls are hard to learn.

I really recommend this game to everybody that needs to relax. Katamari Damacy Reroll is fun for every age. This game got me hooked. I have started looking into the other katamari games.

I give this game…drumroll…

9

Roll that katamari! It only took me four hours to complete the game but I will definitely replay this game in the future.

Also, the games were actually finished before release, nowadays, the chance you might need to buy *new content* which is actually part of the main story is high!

Yes, mostly because it was an experiment in gameplay mechanics. There are quite some flaws, but I rated it for the casual genre and if the casual game has good mechanics.
The biggest flaw is the controls, but the gameplay is good!
      Basically, a 9 for a successful experiment!
