Introduction
Today, we have a list of the top 10 Halo games that we reviewed, which Halo games did we enjoy the most, and what Halo game deserves the number one spot? We are not making this top 10 list based on final ratings but instead of our personal experiences, how balanced the game is, and many other factors like the impact that the game had on release!

10: Halo 5

Halo 5 is a game that tried something new, and they failed horribly. Did you ever want to play a main Halo game and not play as the Master Chief? Then this might be a game for you, otherwise, avoid this game at all costs! Not only that, you suddenly also play with teammates that are usually in the way or taking away your guns. This means that you will need to steal them back!
The main thing that we explored for this top ten list, is this game fun if you do not know the Halo series yet? Yes, the people that are unfamiliar with the series enjoyed this game, hence it deserves the number ten spot!
9: Halo 3

Halo 3 is the final game for the first arc of the Flood. While this game invents a lot of new gadgets, the dual wielding gets a huge nerf in Halo 3. The epic dual needler combo gets removed. This is the final step before removing it completely.
Why did this game get the number nine spot? The constant haunting voices annoyed us way too much, but the gameplay was great!
8: Halo Reach

On the eight spot we dive into a tragic story of people dying on a planet that is doomed from the start. If that is not worth enough to give this game a try, a lot of top tier Spartans also lose their live, but these are the events that set in motion what happens in Halo 1, where the Flood awakens!
The gameplay of this game was fun, the missions seemed to be just the right length, there are also weird hostile alien life forms which we will never see again, but they were really out of place in a Halo game!
7: Halo 4

Halo 4 was the first game that got developed by another company, we see the story take a huge dip with a lot of plot holes and unfinished business, despite that, there are a lot of new guns, enemies and gameplay mechanics. If you ignore the story, you can have a lot of fun.
The only thing that this company needed to do, to make the game even better was to improve upon the formula and apply it to Halo 5, sadly they did the opposite! Also, the Flood went missing and got washed away.
6: Halo Wars

We have had a lot of first-person shooter games on this list already as that is what Halo is mostly composed of, but for this slot we have a strategy game that is called Halo Wars. This game takes place way before Halo Reach and has you take command over an entire army along with a few Spartans as you start the war against the Covenant!
It is your goal to build bases, and then amass an army of tanks and roll over any opposition and win a gold medal!
5: Breath of the Halo

Hafway there, with the halfway mark, we have one of the newest Halo games in this slot! Breath of the Halo fuses Halo with Legend of Zelda Breath of the Halo. Most of the story between Halo 5 and Breath of the Halo gets cut, instead of dealing with the new enemies that get announced at the end of Halo 5, they skip to a new enemy!
Despite the mechanics being awesome with a grappling hook and infinite ammo and vehicles, this feels like a completely different game, however this time around you are playing as the Master Chief, along with an ally that really thinks that you are going to die!
4: Halo 2

Halo 2 had an amazing impact on the gaming industry, the Flood came back with a big bad on their side, dual wielding guns, a lot of new places to visit! Not only that, there is a new playable character called the Arbiter, and we also get to see why the Covenant wants to destroy the humans! Time to take down those false prophets!
The one thing that did annoy me in this game was the removal of the health bar, it made me wonder, how dead is my character?
3: Halo Spartan Strike

For the top three games in this list, we are starting with a mobile port that actually has a fun story, great gameplay and no microtransactions anymore! This is not a first-person shooter, but rather a top-down shooter where you perform missions to earn gold medals. There are also a ton of guns and power ups to use!
While you do play as a generic Spartan this time around, the last chapter is amazing, where you back up the other generic Spartan!
2: Halo Wars 2

Halo Wars 2 takes place many years after the original game, and this is the game that you need to play before ever starting Breath of the Halo. This is where you learn about the new Banished forces that you need to fight instead of the Guardians of Halo 5. I think things are getting quite convoluted at this point. Where did the Flood go? Wait, there is another superior enemy? My head is starting to hurt.
In this game, a lot of the features have been updated, new vehicles, new missions, and bigger bases! The units in this game are more fragile though and crushing the opposition is a little harder, especially on legendary!
1: Halo 1

There is only one game that can rule in the top ten of Halo games, the original Halo game! Despite having flaws, this game was perfect, You are a simple super soldier fighting against aliens! The level where the Flood is introduced still gives me the creeps, the perfect lighting, the horror when you see the dead rise as mutated zombies.
If the series had ended after this game, it would have even been a perfect ending. I think that they milked this franchise a little too much, and not build on what made the first Halo game perfect.
Last Words
I hope you like this list of games that we enjoyed playing and writing about. It is quite insane how many Halo games have been released already! Sadly some Halo games did not make the cut like Halo Spartan Assault, or the DLC of Halo Wars 2!

Nice ranking, but personally i think Halo 2 should have made it into top 3.

Developers trying to get more money on the first successor, but in 90% of cases next versions are not as good as “original”. Since Microsoft have too much money they can change teams like gloves that is why, I think, games not have “the same energy/feeling” (as it was mentioned – they should fix mistakes from previous version and add some good stuff, but some manager don’t like that idea 🙁 )
They kept changing the formula despite showing, in many cases, improving upon the old formula is better while adding small increments of changes that can lead to huge impacts on the game.
For example, Crash 1 has TNT boxes, Crash 2 added Nitro boxes along them, adding more to the game while keeping it original and fresh but still it changed the game in a major way!

I really need to play Halo 3 eventually. Just played 1 and 2.
It’s curious that 2 of the top 3 are spin-offs, and even more curious that one of them was originally a mobile game
The reason behind this was that I did not want the top three to be first-person shooters, Halo Wars was a good spin-off, adds a lot to the lore and shows that Halo can be different from just a shooter. The mobile game showed that despite being mobile, you can make a good Halo game for on the go, just lose the microtransactions. However, Halo 2 would have also been a good spot for slot 3!

Halo is a really good series.
I think you can see where the series started to lose its way story-wise all the way back in Halo 2.
Halo 2 was still good, but Halo 3 would have been a good closer.
Haven’t played older titles of the game cause of me not having any Xbox back then. Gave me some heads up on the series if I ever buy it now.

I think still in some developement state and sadly only for the original one, not the version from the Master Chief Collection. But I hope it comes … would be so much fun to play this in VR 😅
This may need to be done for all series games.
I thought Halo Combat Evolved was the first Halo lol. That game serves as my reference for halo games and so since I didn’t enjoy it, I don’t get how people got so hyped up by the series.
It’s also interesting to see that you rate Halo 1 the highest amongst all the halo games. I guess that stunning visuals and music doesn’t mean a satisfying gameplay experience (referring to your halo 5 gameplay).
If there’s a halo 1 remake I think I might play it, but if I still don’t enjoy it, then I guess this serie is just not for me.
